Questions

How many weeks are paid?

130 days, or 26 weeks, for the family when the child is born or adopted from 1 July 2026. In a couple, 20 days are reserved, so one parent’s own days stop at 110. A single parent can take the full 130. The rate in 2026–27 is $200.94 a day, $1,004.70 for five days.

Which income year is tested?

The financial year before the earlier of the child’s birth or the claim. Services Australia publishes the 2024–25 and 2025–26 limits. You pass if your individual income is at or under the individual limit, or the combined income is at or under the family limit. A person with no partner is also allowed up to the family limit.

Is super paid on Parental Leave Pay?

Yes, for children born or adopted from 1 July 2025. This estimate is 12% of the gross payment. The ATO also adds an interest component when it pays the super. That interest is not estimated here.
